The Super Flash Bros

We're brothers from the UK and have been making games for about 8 years now. Dim is the artist/animator and Tom is the programmer. We began our careers on Newgrounds, which has been the stepping stone to nearly everything we've done. These days we work for Armor Games.

Flash Game Tip #15

As a programmer, your first job is of course to make things work. After that, you should be trying to make them work nicely, so that they get out of the player’s way. The moment anyone finds something that they can’t do or that should be easier, they will get frustrated and leave.

Flash Game Tip #34

Players haven’t paid for your game and usually haven’t been anticipating it. This means that cursor is likely to be hovering over the back button, ready to click at the first sign of boredom. So it’s important to keep the more complex elements out of the way until the player is ready for them.

Flash Game Tip #44

The graphics should match the game experience. If your game has simple graphics, just a couple of squares, maybe a circle, the player will assume the gameplay is going to match; they will be expecting a simple game.

Flash Game Tip #95

Keep the tutorials short and simple. And understand that the player won’t care at first about any story or characters you have developed.
